Drift (“Drift,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how it may be shared, and the choices available to you when you use the Drift mobile application, website, and related services.

By using Drift, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

If you create an account, we may collect information such as:

• Email address
• Account identifier
• Authentication information
• Other information you voluntarily provide as part of your account

We do not require your phone number, physical address, or precise location unless a future feature clearly requests that information.

2. Dream Journal Content

Drift allows you to record and store information about your dreams. This may include:

• Dream descriptions
• Dream titles
• Emotions or moods
• People, places, objects, symbols, or themes
• Notes and reflections
• Dream dates and timestamps
• Generated dream interpretations
• Recurring-pattern and insight data
• Dream Alarm preferences
• Sleep and wake times you choose to enter
• Dream intentions or prompts you voluntarily provide

Dream entries may contain highly personal information depending on what you choose to write or say. You control what information you include.

We use this information only to provide and improve Drift's features, including dream journaling, transcription, interpretations, pattern analysis, dream artwork, and related functionality.

3. Voice and Transcription Data

Drift lets you speak your dream instead of typing it. When you use voice features, your device's built-in speech recognition (Apple's or Google's, depending on your platform) converts your speech into text. Drift does not send raw audio to our own servers — only the transcribed text is used to save your dream entry.

Drift does not intentionally retain raw voice recordings after they are processed into text, unless a feature clearly tells you otherwise.

4. AI-Powered Features

Drift uses artificial intelligence services (OpenAI) to provide features such as:

• Dream interpretations
• Dream summaries
• Symbol and theme identification
• Recurring-pattern analysis
• Dream artwork
• Personalized dream insights
• Dream-related prompts

When you use these features, relevant portions of your dream content may be sent to OpenAI in order to generate the requested result. We only send information reasonably necessary to provide the feature.

AI-generated output may be inaccurate, incomplete, or subjective. Drift should not be used as a substitute for professional medical, psychological, psychiatric, or therapeutic advice.

5. Dream Artwork

If you choose to generate artwork from a dream, relevant text from your dream is processed by OpenAI's image-generation service. Generated images are stored in connection with your Drift account so that you can view them later.

We do not claim ownership of your original dream descriptions. Your rights regarding generated images may also be subject to the terms of the third-party AI provider used to generate them.

6. Dream Alarm and Sleep Features

If you use Dream Alarm, Drift may process information you voluntarily provide, including:

• Bedtime
• Wake time
• Dream goal
• Dream intention
• Alarm preferences
• Audio-cue preferences
• Notification settings

This information is used to schedule alarms, notifications, audio cues, and other Dream Alarm functionality. Drift does not use Dream Alarm data to diagnose or treat sleep disorders.

7. Automatically Collected Information

When you use Drift, we or our service providers may automatically collect limited technical information, including:

• Device type
• Operating system version
• App version
• Device identifiers
• App usage events
• Feature interactions
• Crash information
• Performance information
• Approximate region derived from technical information
• Subscription status

We may use this information to operate, troubleshoot, secure, and improve Drift.

8. Analytics

Drift uses PostHog to understand how people use the app. Analytics data may include information such as:

• Screens viewed
• Features used
• Buttons tapped
• Session activity
• App version
• Device and operating system information
• General usage patterns

We do not intentionally send the full text of private dream journal entries to analytics providers unless necessary for a specific feature and clearly disclosed. Where reasonably possible, sensitive dream content is excluded from analytics events.

9. Subscriptions and Purchases

Drift offers paid subscriptions. Payments made through the Apple App Store are processed by Apple. Drift uses RevenueCat to manage subscription status, entitlement access, introductory offers, free trials, and purchase validation. Drift generally does not receive or store your full payment card information.

Subscription-related data may include:

• Product purchased
• Subscription status
• Trial eligibility
• Renewal status
• Purchase date
• Expiration date
• App Store transaction identifiers

Apple's and RevenueCat's own privacy policies govern their processing of information.

10. Notifications

If you allow notifications, Drift may send notifications relating to:

• Dream reminders
• Wake-up prompts
• Dream Alarm
• Lucid-dream cues
• Subscription or account-related information
• Other app functionality you enable

You can manage notification permissions through your device settings.

11. How We Use Information

We may use information to:

• Provide and operate Drift
• Store and display your dream journal
• Transcribe voice input
• Generate dream interpretations
• Generate dream artwork
• Identify recurring patterns and themes
• Provide Advanced Insights
• Operate Dream Alarm features
• Manage subscriptions
• Provide customer support
• Diagnose crashes and technical problems
• Improve app performance and usability
• Prevent fraud, misuse, or security issues
• Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your private dream journal entries.

12. How We Share Information

We use a small number of service providers to run Drift, and share only the data each needs to do its job:

• Supabase: hosting, account authentication, and database storage for account data, dream entries, and generated content.
• OpenAI: generates interpretations, summaries, and dream artwork.
• Apple and RevenueCat: process subscription and transaction information.
• PostHog: processes technical and usage information for product analytics.

We may also disclose information if required by law, court order, legal process, or when reasonably necessary to protect the rights, safety, or security of Drift, our users, or others.

We do not sell personal information to data brokers.

13. Data Retention

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide Drift and fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy. Dream journal entries remain stored until you delete them or delete your account.

Certain information may be retained for a limited period after deletion when necessary for security, fraud prevention, backup systems, legal compliance, or accounting and transaction records. Where practical, deleted information will be removed or anonymized after applicable retention periods.

14. Account and Data Deletion

You may request deletion of your Drift account and associated personal information at any time from within the app's settings. You may also contact us at stanblogz@gmail.com.

We may need to retain certain limited information where required by law or for legitimate security and transaction-record purposes.

15. Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect your information. However, no online service or storage system can guarantee absolute security. You should avoid including information in a dream entry that you would not want stored electronically.

16. Children's Privacy

Drift is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without appropriate authorization, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.

17. California Privacy Rights

California residents may have rights relating to their personal information under applicable California privacy laws. Depending on whether those laws apply to Drift, these rights may include the right to:

• Know what personal information is collected
• Request access to personal information
• Request correction
• Request deletion
• Receive information about how personal information is used
• Opt out of certain sharing or sale practices where applicable

18. European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Similar Privacy Rights

Users in certain jurisdictions may have additional rights regarding their personal information. Depending on applicable law, these may include the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal information; object to certain processing; receive a portable copy of your information; withdraw consent where processing relies on consent; and lodge a complaint with a data protection authority.

Where required, Drift processes personal information based on one or more lawful bases, including your consent, performance of a contract, our legitimate interests, and compliance with legal obligations. If personal information is transferred internationally, we and our service providers use legally recognized safeguards where required.

19. Your Choices

You may:

• Edit or delete individual dream entries
• Manage notification permissions
• Cancel subscriptions through your Apple account
• Request account deletion
• Request access to certain stored information
• Stop using Drift at any time

Deleting the Drift app does not automatically cancel an Apple subscription.

20. Third-Party Services

Drift relies on third-party services, including Apple, RevenueCat, Supabase, OpenAI, and PostHog. Those providers operate under their own privacy policies and terms. We encourage you to review the privacy practices of services you interact with.

21. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When changes are made, we will update the “Last updated” date above. If changes are significant, we may provide additional notice through the app, website, or another appropriate method.
